When I was in CA, I try to make it to the farmer's market as often as I can. Fruits and produces were sweeter but not as pretty. They are reasonable in price too. Whereas grocery stores fruits and produces are picked when they are weeks away from ready to be consume (reason is for shipping). Organic or not is up to you.

We don't technically have a farmers market (small town Texas). I do happen to like the roadside produce stands (we have a lot of old guys in overalls selling home-grown vegetables off the back of their pickup trucks). Some are better set up than others, , but they're all a lot less formal than an actual farmer's market.

I love our farmers market. Madison, WI I go as often as they have them and buy all organic. When not running in winter, I go to the supermarket and buy only the freshest of items. It doesn't really matter to me, but I like to help our "own" residents from our state. Why give to the big box stores.

here they are overpriced - not always organic. i have bought beautiful breads and discovered the centers did not bake. Some cheeses are very good. Veggies I get at a produce market - mostly organic and more reasonably priced

I like the farmers market where I live. I buy my veg from a nice mennonite family. They also make vegan pate and other home cooked veg/vegan goodies. I'd rather buy from them than the big grocery store. Their veg taste MUCH better.

We shop at ours every Friday in the summer. In CA most stuff is organic, but it really doesn't matter to me. It's a nice walk downtown for exercise too.

i live in Silverlake, California...we have a farmers market every Saturday...i love it...you can get great food like fresh produce and roasted nuts...even fresh mozzarella cheese. there is even a booth with fresh pressed sugarcane juice or coconut juice...you can get a crepe made or grab some homemade tamales...there's jewelry and clothes and music and people....i love it.
