Yes, it means that they only eat fish, seafood and it's the only meat they are allow to eat or anything from seafood but can still eat beans, rice and ect.

I'm not sure about others (and I suspect like many types of vegetarianism, there are versions of pescatarianism) but I know a couple pescas who eat ONLY fish...no clams, shrimp, crab etc etc. I also know others who include essentially anything from the sea/lakes/rivers

If you're entertaining and don't know their dietary limits, fish is safest. Many dishes easily convert to fish from shellfish. Just be mindful when you choose the fish....cod, swai and similar are very light, fairly firm fish that could probably substitute for the shrimp/crab elements. In my mind, salmon doesn't substitute for anything else but is a great entree in its own right. If you're grilling, swordfish is second to none - marinaded for 10 or 15 minutes using a simple lemon or lime or orangemarinade. In Thai curries I use swai or catfish...just need to cook (pan fry with just a flour dredge) the fish separately while cooking the curry soup and veg. Then merge right before serving or even serve as 2 elements to be mixed to person preferences by the diner

DUH.... a pescatarian is one that eats seafood. They don't eat beef, fowl, or pork.
