Question:
Vegetarian cheat day?

I have currently been a vegetarian for 11 months. I have been doing well, but occasionally I have days where I crave meat. I am a vegetarian for animal rights. Recently, due to my cravings, I have been thinking about a "cheat day" where I have the option to eat meat only one day out of the year. (Only meat that has been brought about in a humane way.)

If I decided to do this:
1. Would you still consider me a vegetarian?
2. Do you think my body would have issues digesting the fat?

I want to remain a vegetarian. If people won't consider me one because I have a cheat day, then I won't do it. I am trying to pursue issues on animal rights in the future.

So is this a bad idea?

Sorry, vegetarians don't eat meat. If you are vegetarian for animal rights, maybe calling it Death Day would be more appropriate. Doing something "sometimes" means you are still doing it.

You can do whatever you want (obviously!), but if you were to eat meat occassionally, it would not be appropriate to call yourself a vegetarian.

I really can't offer anything in regards to "craving" meat.... I do relate to having liked eating animal products, but I just don't now.... I have no struggle with it.

Your mom is ideal, this is not a large deal. It occurs to each and each and every vegetarian a least a dozen circumstances. If accidently taking a nutrition that includes gelatin for a pair days is dishonest then a minimum of have of the vegetarians on right here have cheated.

No you're not a vegetarian at all. Please.

Your body digests things like tar, leather, skins, chalk and meat in much the same way as it does any foreign substance- it'll go down when chewed, sit around, then go through the alimentary canal. It won't kill you, or make you sick unless it's got dodgey bacteria in it.

I really don't know how on earth you can even have a question about this- would you still be vegetarian if you ate meat? For gods sake. Wow.

Question 1 is rather irrelevant. In my opinion, however, this would be a bad idea simply because the people who start with the "once a year cheat day" eventually move on to every month or so, to every week, back to not being vegetarian.

I strongly suggest staying true to your vegetarianism, just ignore the cravings.

"Only meat that has been brought about in a humane way" ? Um, no. There is no such thing as humane meat. If you're really a vegetarian for ANIMAL RIGHTS, you should know this.

You're body would definatly have issues digesting the meat.

I'm a vegetarian because of animal rights purposes as well and I personally cringe at the thought of having a cheat day. Meat looks awful to me! All I can think about is those poor animals.

But if you want to...go for it. It's your life! Nobody can stop you from eating whatever the hell you want

And honestly I think you would just have diarreah for a day maybe 2.

I'm not comparing eating meat to smoking, but imagine if you were trying to stop smoking. Wouldn't taking one smoke just tempt you to do it more often/again? If you're struggling I think in the hopes of still being a vegetarian it'd be "dangerous" to give into your craving.

After about a year it's possible your body would be confused but I don't know for sure!

I'd still consider you a vegetarian but I'd lose a little respect for you, sorry :P I'm sure many others who aren't vegetarians would still completely respect you for being ya know human and giving in.

It makes absolutely no difference what anyone else considers you to be at all. If you want to eat meat for a day, do it. If you feel like crap the next day it might clarify things for you..Why on earth do you need approval from perfect strangers first? If you're considering a future in animal rights you're going to need more backbone than this.

Personally I don't care for names and I would respect you as a vegetarian having a relapse.

1) A vegetarian may say you are not one, and vegan's will literally crucify you

2) I would suggest a lean piece of good meat of your choice.

If you are going to pursue the animal rights reason, being a vegetarian is not a requirement as most farmers will back you 100%. They hate to see the meat industry condemned by PETA and others across the board and their attempt to brain-wash the masses that all farmers abuse their animals.

It has been proven again and again a happy non stressed animal produced a far better quality of beef or lamb, and the slaughtering steps a humane.

1. No

2. No

But I do think that you'll work yourself up for that day and then really regret it afterwards.

If you're having meat cravings, try the greasy vegie burger and chips thing - cook up a vegie patty, fry some onions, make up a vegie burger with patty, onions, salad and lots of tomato sauce (ketchup), and make a batch of chips/fries. You are most likely just craving saltiness, oiliness, umami.

Why do you care if anyone considers you a vegetarian? It's not a religion or an exclusive club. I'm a sugar free vegan (not for animal rights reasons), and I don't really experience any cravings But, if I felt like eating a hunk of salmon or a slice of cheesecake, I'd do it and not care for a single second what anyone, least of all strangers on the Internet, thought about it.

If you eat meat on purpose, you are not a vegetarian. End of story, no exceptions.

In the superstore, fruits are usually selected far too soon. Some are rocks, many are bad. Some of the fresh vegetables are generally right (zucchini, onions, garlic, lettuce, greens, and a few others) so I'd have to go with vegetables.

Fruits are described as ripened flower ovaries which produce seeds.
