Health, animals, but most of all the environment. Animal farming accounts for 51% of climate change. More than that, if more people were vegetarian, fewer people would go hungry. The earth's resources cannot support 6 billion meat eaters, but it can supply enough food for 6 billion vegetarian/vegans. Preferably vegans, because dairy and battery farms are part of the problem. And they are also cruel.

Originally I went vegetarian because I felt a bit like a hypocrite, saying that I loved animals only to eat them later that night. I didn't know about how they were treated, that they were raised for slaughter or anything like that I just liked animals too much to eat them. After a while, when I tried to eat things like pineapple pizza I just couldn't, I'd stare at the meat and feel sick or have to spit it out.

Part of the reason I still am one is because of that hyprocritical and sick feeling, part is also because of what I've now learnt about animal cruelty.

I was practically a strict carnivore until the age of 14. I even went on a 100% meat diet at one point trying to lose weight. I was incredibly aggressive and irritable constantly. Meat really does make you cranky, I was proof of that.

Anyway, one day it just hit me. I saw firsthand the suffering I had inflicted on hundreds of animals, we live in a town that has a turkey plant.. and I saw a turkey escape and I don't know, it changed everything just in a snap. I have been doing research on the suffering of animals ever since then and have been without meat for 7 years now.

Now I am a very kind and understanding person, I don't even hurt flies or spiders. I am trying to live as kindly to everything around me as I can. Respect the creatures on the planet, respect the forests, just give what you want to receive back.

I can go on and on about how much healthier I am and how nice my hair and skin is because of cutting out meat, but people who eat meat generally roll their eyes and can't grasp that humans are not the only living creatures on this planet whose lives matter.

I am actually vegan. It's not about having "compassion for animals" I just respect them as more then just our objects to manipulate. I know that people are meant to eat animals, but the way the industry abuses them is just wrong. Also, I don't trust how the food industry is, and don't want to be filling my body with meat from a cow that is fed corn instead of its natural crop of grass! None of this is natural!

For the animals. I believe it's wrong to kill animals for food (particularly in slaughterhouses) when we have other options. I can easily eat Quorn, which has protein in it and doesn't require killing poor animals. I don't live off Quorn though, I do eat veggie pizza, veggie pasta etc. I loathe the thought of slaughterhouses. People who work in them and don't feel guilty at all are just sick.

I just became a vegetarian because well, i don't believe in animal cruelty and meat has vitamins but isn't very healthy and is proven to make you get acne and be grouchy.... vegetarianism is a healthy way yet hard way of life.... Vegans are harder! but i feel sorry for those poor little chickens they raise them to kill them its horribal!!!

1. I am compassionate about animals, i do not believe that they should be tortured and killed for humans to eat. Animals have feelings, they have eyes, noses, ears, a nervous system, which means they can feel pain (emotional) just as much as humans do. They are so similar too humans just can't talk and look different so eating one of them would just be wrong D: like cannbalism D: lol

2. its not healthy.

Animals - specifically, not wanting to buy a horribly tortured and slaughtered animal to cook for supper when I could just have tempeh and kale. It's a choice that pretty much makes itself when you give it a moment's thought.

I happen to love animals. Plus that package of tofu has been giving me the evil eye...time to take him out! (makes slitting motion across throat)

-Meat's not healthy.

-I love animals and I would feel like a hypocrite saying I did, only to go out later and chomp on one.

-I care about the environment.

-I for one, would hate to be put in their situation.

-I don't believe that an animal should die for your stomach.

-I love how much more healthier I look/feel/am.

I could go on and on. :)

I want to do my part and save the animals because I don't think they should suffer throughout their whole life just to satisfy one's taste-bud.
