Question:
Why are elephants so big and strong eating just vegetation?
anonymous

As we all know, the elephant is the largest land animal alive today. They eat vegetation and they do not eat other animals, yet they have big healthy muscles and they are not deficient in protein. This is because to maintain muscle mass, you consume amino acids, not animal flesh. The whole "we need to eat meat for protein" is just propaganda generated by the meat industry to "dumb down the race" and to keep lower level intelligence hooked on meat. Any one who can think for themself can see right through this facade.

If you are currently eating meat, I encourage you to stop. Matter of fact, get up from your computer now an go to your refrigerator and throw out any meat, seafood, poultry and dairy. Basically, throw out anything that ever had a face or came from something that ever had a face. Adopt a vegan diet and you can be heathier than you have ever been in your life. Good people eat a vegan diet.

Good morning Ashley, still pretending to be vegan I see.

Size isn't everything you know. Chimpanzees are extremely strong animals & they don't live on a vegan or vegetarian diet.

I resent your final assertion.

Actually, I don't.

I wanted to get worked up into a rant, but on realising that the crux of your arguement was that people shouldn't eat meat because elephants are big amused me greatly.

I'm not a meat eating extremist that presumes to thrust my views down other's throats, nor do I have strong views on the health merits of either diet, but this kind of spurious nonsense only serves to fuel the arguement that there is a positive link between eating meat and brain power.

If you find eating meat an unhealthy reminder of your own mortality or find the ingestion of an animal part gross, then fine. Don't think though that somehow you'll escape your innermost fears by telling me that I'm a bad person.

I've moved on from being amused now.

Be well - and try to find a little happiness in life.

you fixed your sentence using the word "clout" right after Emily pointed that out. Why must you go to extreme lengths to make other people look bad when your making yourself look worse in the process? Also, you used the word incorrectly. "clout" in most ways it means a "clout" on the head or influence. And since Socko was not being persuasive, there is no need to tell him to type with more "influence". Also, I know Emily, and she is a very intellectual girl. She used to be one of my neighbors. Her grades never drop below a B and never have. Please leave her alone, I'm sure even as a now seventh grader she is brighter than you could ever hope to be, so lay off Ashly.

Hi Chisty,

I believe the elephants are ruminants, so they can eat only vegetation an they have a lot of microorganims inside them, so those microorganims can provide all nutrition they need.

I'm not a vegan or vegetarian, but I don't have nothing against who is.

But I've to break the news, the beast proteins are from animals, like eggs 'n milk 'n there's no point on arguing about it.

But it not means that you need to eat animal proteins, you can ask to a nutritionist to make a balanced diet where you can have all essential amino acids that you need.

If you just adopt a vegan diet without a professionals help you can develop what they call as a "invisible hungry" or another alimentary disease.

So good lucky on your cause.

ok, your messin' with us. "and to keep lower level intelligence hooked on meat." ok, so I am considered "lower intelligence" just because I eat meat? I'm smart enough to see through your Kristy disguise, Ashly, I'm smart enough to be elected to go to Washington DC for the Junior Leaders' Foundation by all of my teachers, and I'm smart enough not to fall for all of your nonsense. My family and I have a friend who lives a little ways from us, and she is a dietitian. She has been studying this issue for many years, and she will tell you any day that meat is healthy for you, not a whole lot, but some. You need dairy, you need meat, you need poultry. And also, why would I take life changing advice from someone I don't even know off of yahoo answers? It's ridiculous, and nobody is listening Ashly, so why don't you stop calling meat eaters morons when in most questions you can't get your grammar right.

Added: Why don't you just make your screen name Ashly? I mean come on! You've given yourself away too many times for anyone to beleive your actually "Kristy". "I will not sugar coat it." Hehe, yet another slip up my dear. Also, don't tell anyone to learn spelling if you don't know yours. "Socko, I think your reply might be more believable if you clout learn how to spell." you spelled "could" wrong. And, what science has proven we don't need meat? Show me your source instead of insisting it's there.

Edit: Oh ashly! (Not the questioner, the person a few answers down from me) I haven't heard from you in ages! Been protesting more?

Vegan:

NO meat, poultry, seafood, eggs, dairy products, honey, fur, leather, wool, silk.

They also have increased risk of bone fractures.

You can't force a person to become a vegan.

We ARE omnivores, and there are billions out there who eat meat. You just can't stop bears or tigers to just quit eating meat. Same goes to humans.

EDIT: What guilt? I was about to get some sushi!

Also, I read that PETA says that animals have beliefs too, but if they did, why are lions hunting gazelles? Why can't they follow your advice and eat grass?

Actually, I find the smaller carnivores who prey on the bigger herbivores stronger. Predators will not typically hunt an elephant because of its big neck and head (harder to apply the killing bite) but lions have been know to take down calves and even adult elephants in necessary. Also lions, hyenas, cheetahs and cougars for example need to eat only about 2-3 times a week (snakes and crocs eat even less frequently) while herbivores spend most of their day foraging and eating which implies their vegetation diets have little nutrition.

since your "question" is basically a rant, I guess it will be deleted soon..

Funny, I am enjoying a lovely chiken cheese toasie as you speak your rubbish.

I have one question.

Are we elephants?

No.

So shut up will you?

Why are you forcing us to eat meat?

Ha what is all this crap that you wrote?

A flexitarian is someone who generally eats a vegetarian diet. They eat animal for the purpose of nutrients or for social reasons.

I think we should all try to see past our differences and learn to love one another. You can't expect people go full vegetarian over night. People need time, they will become vegetarians when they are ready. Some people do not initially have the discipline and know-how to become a vegetgarian. It takes time to reach that level. We should be appreciative of them for making what little effort they are making.

SHUT UP AND PRACTICE WHAT YOU PREACH YOU SCHIZO!

Oh my, why not allow individuals to do their own research and quit all this nonsense? Why not provoke a discussion by asking questions rather than making commands?

I know a lot of people who are vegetarian and vegan. They come to my house for get-togethers (with folks who have not given up meat or eggs, etc.). They love each other. They do not judge each other. They appreciate each other.

I guess ...life at my house is better than at this forum.

whoa there christy don't ya think people should make that choice for themselves and the last bit of your question really bothers me is that good people eat a vegan diet implying that everyone else is BAD

personally I haven't eaten meat for over 18 years ago now BUT that was my choice I would never insist that others should also be a vegetarian or vegan

My god you are tedious. Its like you have reached the end of your record and have started again. I will give it 6 months before you are asking if you can be removed from school property for showing pictures from inside slaughter houses. You are dull, you are boring. I suggest you turn off your computer, go out into the big wide world and find some traffic to play with

Are you just sick of the typical diet programs had been right after the diet program end the further lbs are just coming and coming soon after finish the diet regime? Are you experience the truth that as soon as your entire body will get used to a diet regime then this diet gets much less powerful in excess of time simply because your entire body adjusts to compensate?
