Organic food without expiration date?

I bought a ton of organic food maybe over a year ago and I've opened most of it but kept it refrigerated. I feel bad wasting it so I'm not sure what to do. Why doesn't it have an expiration date on it? One of the things is Nature's Promise Chocolate Soynut Butter. I can't find an expiration date anywhere...whereas my Nature's Promise Organic Peanut Butter does have an expiration and it said Best By June 2010 so that's no good.

Does not having an expiration date on it mean it doesn't go bad or just that they didn't put it on the jar? Is it safe to eat? Can you actually get sick from organic soynut butter if it WAS old anyways?

Here is an easy rule of thumb:

Perishable foods are sold refrigerated and have an expiration date that you have to observe.

Non-perishable foods are sold at room temperature and have best-by dates which refer to the quality of the food and not food safety.

Produce (fruits and vegetables) are the noted exception - they are sold at room temp, not sealed with no dates - but common sense will tell you when produce has gone off.

A "Best by" date is not an expiration date. To clarify:

1) An 'expiration date' specifies a date after which a product should not be consumed. It will clearly use the word "expiration" or "exp". It is illegal to sell food past its expiration date and food past its expiration date should not be eaten.

2) A 'sell by date' specifies a date after which a product should not be sold. This ensures the consumer has enough life left to use the food without it spoiling. Whether or not it is legal to sell food after the sell by date depends on the jurisdiction and the food. It is generally safe to eat food one to two weeks after its sell by date.

3) A 'best by' date reflects someone's opinion of when the product is best. It does not have anything to do with when or how the product will spoil and is for inventory control, warranty, and price discrimination purposes. (Not only is it legal for a supermarket to sell a product after its 'best by' date, a supermarket can change the 'best by' date if it wants to.) Many foods with 'best by' dates are safe to eat years after their best by date, though their taste may be slightly altered.

Use common sense with the food. If it has no expiration date or sell by date, smell it. If it smells okay, taste a small amount. If it smells and tastes good, it most likely is good.

I heard Harrisons (i think of that's that) is the suitable for pellet. If a parrot is used to pellets it won't in any respect be a stressful replace. in the event that they're used to seeds it must be a jointly as earlier they prefer it.

Does the container have the company's phone number or website listed on ot? You could ask them directly.
