I doubt it, but it's worth a try... will any of you meat eaters partake in National Vegetarian Week? (24th-30th.)
I just want to see if I can get anyone from here to participate...? Pleassee? D:

It's only a week... (actually, six days to be exact.)
doos ANYONE think they could/will do it...?

I'll try it!

I know removing meat from your diet, especially processed red meat, has it's health benefits. This week-long meat-free diet will be a good mini-detox for me!! Thanks!

No, I will not partake.

I know that I COULD do it, I've gone meat-free before for a few days at a time. A week without meat wouldn't be a huge problem.

But that was more a consequence of circumstances and coincidences. It certainly wasn't a conscious effort or a deliberate decision not to eat meat for any significant altruistic purpose.

So really, it has nothing to do with WILL, it has everything to do with DESIRE.

Same as asking you to eat meat for six straight days; you probably COULD do it, you probably just don't WANT to.

Tell you what: as a compromise, I will pledge to stay away from asking/answering any questions in the "Vegetarian & Vegan" section during National Vegetarian Week.

THAT would be my contribution, and THAT would be a challenge. Not sure that I could do that for six days.

I WOULD propose a week-long (or six-day) truce among vegetarians and meat-eaters, but I'm fairly pessimistic about that possibility. People are assholes.

Ha! I was a vegan for a year, so yeah. The only meat I eat now is poultry and seafood.

There's a National Vegetarian Week?

Excuse me for my ignorance, but I didn't know that!

:)

I shall tell my family about it. Maybe one or two will participate. There's no harm in telling them (:

I won't.

Annjee is misinformed.

Red meat is very healthy. PROCESSED meat is what's not healthy.

Yeah I would try it. I'm a semi-vegan. I hardly ever eat meal. However I still eat eggs, chicken turkey, and drink milk.

I'm not a person that eats a LOT of meat but I'm not interested in being a vegetarian either, not even wasting a week on it.

I certainly COULD do it. That's just a matter of will power. That said, I won't because I like meat.
2010-05-20 08:21:32 UTC
Yes, I will participate. I promise to eat double meat with every single meal for the entire week. Thank you for letting me know about this; I'll spread the word.

Double bacon, baby!

I'm actually headed to heaven (a Brazilian Steakhouse) tonight to get a jump on it.
2010-05-20 08:29:05 UTC
Sure I will.

Only if you eat meat the next week.

NO I love meat, I am an omnivore, the way God intended me to be.

God would not have endowed me with Canine teeth , IF he meant me to be a vegetarian.

Sorry.

A week? Don't be ridiculous, I wouldn't waste a day doing this. A day without proper healthy food is a day spent betting against myself. I value myself far too much. Maybe you'll find some volunteers in the Masochist section.

Have fun (as if).

I hope they eat more and more really fatty meat, rapidly clogging arteries, and die off ASAP.
