its "wrong" to eat bugs if you're a vegetarian but the reason so many people think eating bugs is some sort of taboo is just because our culture has just conditioned us to think that way, that insects are just disgusting little creatures that are suppose to be killed and not eaten but in fact almost everyone eats insects and dont even realized it, every had a jellybean? It has shellac in it, which is derived from the excretions of the Kerria lacca insect; lobsters for example, while not themselves considered insects its in the same class as things like woodlouse and one of its closest living relatives is a cockroach, if you've eaten anything thats artifically red (like my favorite, red velvet cake), chances are theres carmine in it, which is just ground up beetles. Theres a lot of foods and food additives like this. Escargot is delicious, if you have a chance to try some, do so; I've also been wanting to try escamoles for a while now myself (google it).

Vegetarians do not eat any animals even bugs. And I never eaten snails or bugs and do not plan to.
escargot are snails.

Snails are not insects, they're gastropods. Either way they are animals, and you're asking this question in the V&V section. A vegetarian is defined as someone who doesn't eat animals.
Edit:
"im not a vegetarian"
Then why are you asking this in the vegetarian section?
"im not referring to the snails as bugs, i meant any bugs in particular."
'Bugs' is slang for insects. So once again, snails are not a particular kind of bug.

Some cultures it is normal to eat insects. It is not my preferred cuisine. However, I have eaten escargot (snails) and they are not that bad. The garlic-parsley butter that is served with escargot is wonderful. As for the taste of escargot - not much taste but quite chewy.
A word of caution - not all things are edible. One of those bugs could be deadly.

No and that i do no longer plan on it. maybe we'd desire to consistently have an escargot lifeless night buffett at mine and Yayo's wedding ceremony for the luxurious... LOL i'm going to be on the "unfavorable mans" lifeless night buffett. LOL Cheers =)

l'escargot. Why is there a discussion about eating snails, happening in the vegetarian and vegan section?!

You might not be vegetarian, but you asked this question in the Vegetarian/Vegan section. Try deleting this question and asking it in Entertainment -> Polls. This will get a wider response.

Everybody unbeknown to them actually eats about 2 lbs of bugs per year.
Bug parts are found in just about everything you eat in small amounts.

Well escargot isn't bugs. I haven't tried either and think it's gross. I'm a vegetarian, so all animals are gross to eat.

I dont think its necessary to eat bugs unless your in a life or death situation, but escargot is a different story. I dont think its considered a "bug" but its fairly good. It has a different texture to it, and when i had it, it came in a garlic butter sauce of some sort. Its worth a try, but not the best.

escargot is great. They're little snails served with piping hot garlic butter. I wouldn't consider them bugs.
In some countries people eat all kinds leggy, crunchy bugs.

it's not wrong. meat is meat. as far as being disgusting, that would depend on how they're prepared & personal preference. i haven't had escargot yet, but i hear it's awesome... i don't think it's considered bugs though.
