A cute little cat-sized mammal basically eats some coffee berries, poops them back out, some guy comes up behind them to clean them off, and they are made into the world's most expensive coffee (Kopi Luwak). Most people, whether vegan or not, would shy away from the coffee because of how it was produced.

So..vegans:
Regardless of what distaste or repulsion you have to poop-coffee, would you consider the drink vegan and morally acceptable for a vegan to drink?

P.S. I have no aspirations for drinking poop-coffee, this is just a Y! Answers question.

If the beans are collected naturally in the wild it would be vegan as there is no suffering for the animal and really no interaction with the animal. If they are farmed then it is not vegan because the animals are taken out of their natural habitat, forced to produce a product for commercial gain, and confined (and who knows what other farming practices they are subjected to).

I don't know, but I wouldn't mind cooking a Kopi Luwak and seeing what it tastes like. Maybe it tastes like coffee...french roast.
